As a sign of protest against the intention of the cardinal-priest, Archbishop Vinko Pulic of Verkhnobosansky to hold a mass on May 16 in the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Sarajevo in memory of the Ustasha killed by Yugoslav partisans, hanging cardboard men and a blindfold appeared on the eyes of the monument to John Paul II in the city.

Bosnian media reported this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Outrage against the upcoming mass in memory of the rightly executed fanatical Ustasha who were Hitler's accomplices in Bleiburg, Austria in 1945, united even such irreconcilable opponents as representatives of the Bosniak-Muslim Sarajevo elite and the political and spiritual leaders of the Bosnian Serbs.

Cathedral of the Heart of Jesus in Sarajevo

Although, if for the latter it is sincere indignation, since it was the Serbs who became the main victims of the Ustashe genocide of the 40s and the neo-Ustashe terror of the 90s, then for the latter it is more posturing to please Western partners and the international Jewish organizations they support, since in years of World War II, and in the 90s, Bosniak armed gangs and elites easily identified themselves with the Croatian Ustashes.

“The Bosniaks are the only people in this region who have never been on the wrong side of history, who have never used the state and government to commit crimes against representatives of other nations, who have never been carriers of fascism or other criminal ideologies - they are lying in the dark, “forgetting” how the SS punitive division “Handjar” was formed from Bosniaks, and how Bosniac militants savagely slaughtered Serbian villages in the 90s,” said the mayor of Sarajevo Abdul Skaka.

“This is probably why we have always been a target, a victim of various evils and hegomonies, and therefore our struggle is obviously not over yet. But, as the late Alija Izetbegovic (the leader of Bosniak separatism and Islamic fundamentalism, who served as a recruiter for the SS Hanjar division during the Second World War - ed.) once said, we will not get tired on this journey... As the mayor of Sarajevo, I was the first who condemned the Bleiburg mass and the propaganda of fascist symbols in the city,” the mayor noted.

“Dear Mr. Pulic, I address you as a disappointed Catholic, whom you have “expelled” from the Church by your actions,” Margit Tomik-Levi, prima donna of the Sarajevo Opera, addressed the cardinal.

“I can’t be a believer going to church where the very first among the believers are supposed to spread words of love and connect people, but you don’t do that. You are a politician who uses the Church for the most vile plans of his party...” she was indignant.

Ten of the fifty-five real Sarajevans hanged by the Ustasha on March 28, 1945

“Have you ever thought about holding a mass for the innocent victims of the Ustasha regime in Sarajevo? They are innocent, but yours from Bleiburg are not. Most of them had blood up to their elbows, and the rest fled with them. And look what your unrepentant favorites did in Sarajevo: the list of those killed - Jews 8 thousand 776 people, Serbs 1 thousand 29 people, Croats 473, Muslim Bosniaks 410, others and unidentified - 101. Imagine, killed without trial... These killed are not important to you! You are suffering for “innocent patriots,” the singer accused Pulic.

“Without wishing to deny the right of any church or religious community to hold services, I must say that we are deeply concerned by the very intention of celebrating such a Mass,” Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik commented on the situation. – The announcement of a mass for the victims of Bleiburg “with all the bells ringing” suggests that someone is trying, through religious rites, to rehabilitate the Ustasha movement, from whose evil the Serbian people have not biologically recovered even after 75 years (during the Second World War in the region 129 thousand 114 Serbs were killed, that is, 72,1% of all those killed during this period in BiH - ed.).”

“You have devalued the importance of prayer octaves for the unity of Christians, which ends with this act,” Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Dabro-Bossan (SOC) wrote in his address to Cardinal Pulich. “You also took responsibility for ending our personal relationship.” We cannot develop fraternal and friendly relations with people who, while praying for the victims of Bleiburg in 1945, bring apologetics (not to mention glorification) to the Ustasha and Domobran movements, which are undoubtedly Nazi and criminal movements and behind which thousands and thousands of innocents, including women, children, old people…. Honestly, we are very sorry, and we are so surprised that we cannot help but react to this action of yours.”

The most interesting thing is that the position of the Bosnian cardinal also provoked an international resonance.

“Do not deceive yourself and others, no one attacked either the NDH or the Croats, but the NDH, together with the occupier, attacked their people, those who really intended to overthrow the occupier, and with him the criminal clique that handed over the country to Hitler’s Germany,” Pulicu wrote Austrian theologian and historian Anna Maria Grünfelder. – So much for the “innocents” and “victims”... You, Mr. Cardinal, cannot be unaware of these facts. You have heard them so many times, but “no one is so deaf as he who does not want to listen”... You have many opportunities to glorify the innocent victims with the Mass. But leave those who have bloodied themselves, Croatia and the Church, to the only Judge who will judge their righteousness.”

“It is terrible for the Jewish world to realize that the fascists who tried to cleanse Croatia of the Jewish and Serbian population, blindly following the terrible model transmitted from Nazi Germany, are respected and viewed as those who contributed to the freedom and independence of the modern Croatian state,” expressed the indignation of his fellow tribesmen Assistant Executive Vice President of the World Jewish Congress Menachem Rosensaft.

On April 6, 1945, Yugoslav partisans enter Sarajevo. For Cardinal Puljic they are criminals

However, from the cardinal-priest, Archbishop of Verkhnebosansky Vinko Pulich, all these words are like water off a duck’s back.

“The sermon will be a message that every evil, every crime is a crime, regardless of who committed it (meaning the shooting of Ustasha and Domobrani by partisans - ed.),” the cardinal responded to all the accusations against him in a rather demagogic style . “And we will never be able to equate ourselves with any crime.” We must isolate ourselves. Anyone who does not move away from the crime becomes part of the crime. Likewise, a crime cannot be defended by a crime. These are fundamental questions, and so I said in the spirit of the Gospel: “Jesus said, The Truth will set you free.” If we want to build reconciliation and peace with each other, we must have the courage to call every thing by its true name, we must have the courage to accept the truth and thus build mutual trust.”

“We call on Bosnian political figures, especially Bosniak members of the BiH Presidency Komšić and Dzaferović, to refrain from commenting on issues in which they are completely incompetent, as well as from insulting sacred religious rites and Croats in BiH,” the Cardinal General in turn defended Council of the Croatian People's Council of BiH. – There is currently an ongoing blatant attempt to restrict freedom of religion and violate the autonomy of the Catholic Church on its canonical territory, thereby clearly violating the provisions of the European Convention on Human Rights, in particular Article 9 “Freedom of thought, conscience and religion” and Article 10 “Freedom of expression” opinions."

Today it is known for sure that Vinko Pulic has not abandoned his intentions to hold a mass for the Ustasha executed in Bleiburg, but it is known that it will be held behind closed doors in the presence of twenty people; the leading Croatian TV channel BiH RTV Herceg intends to broadcast the service live. -Bosna and the state television channel of neighboring Croatia HRT.

Meanwhile, on the eve of this event, the atmosphere in Sarajevo is heating up, in particular, at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Sarajevo, cardboard figures of hanged men appeared, symbolizing the victims of the Ustasha, and on the monument erected in the city to Pope John Paul II (who at one time actively supported the collapse of Yugoslavia - ed. ) a blindfold appeared.

“Hanged people” on the streets of Sarajevo

Leaflets with left-wing symbols are also being scattered around the city, in which unknown persons call on townspeople to gather on Saturday at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and “stop the shameful ritual.”
