Sarajevo Bosniak elite attacks Bosnian Croats
The Club of Deputies of the Croatian Community at the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation (Bosniak-Croat) BiH called the actions of the Bosniak leaders “a coup and aggression against the Croats.”
This statement was made in response to threats from the leader of the largest Bosniak party, the Party of Democratic Action (SDA), and the unofficial leader of the community, Bakir Izetbegovic, who promised to deprive the Croats of real representation in the country, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The reason for another political scandal in the Federation of BiH, the Bosniak-Croat entity of the country, was the attempts of the Croatian community to achieve changes in the local “Electoral Law” in order to obtain proportional representation. All these years this could not be achieved due to the fact that the Bosniaks numerically dominate the Croats (50% to 15,4% in the country, and 70% to 22% in the Federation according to 2013 data), and if the Bosnian Serbs have their own entity is the Republika Srpska, then the Croats do not have it.
In the fight against Bosniak domination, the political elite of the Bosnian Croats, in particular their leader Dragan Covic, often stood in solidarity with the Bosnian Serbs and their leader Milorad Dodik, while the Sarajevo elite, thanks to the votes of the Bosniaks, installed a pocket Croatian politician who was unpopular with his fellow tribesmen as the nominal “leader” of the Croatian community Zeljko Komsic.
“If Covic continues threats, collaboration with Dodik, pressure, then the Komsic phenomenon will move to other levels,” threatened Bakir Izetbegovic, speaking recently on the N1 TV channel. “We will do everything to break this mechanism (proportional representation – ed.) and create a normal state.”
Bakir Izetbegovich
“Izetbegovic’s threats to abolish the mechanism of legal representation are open aggression against BiH. It is now clear that the SDA and Bakir Izetbegovic openly express their commitment to the policy of disintegration of BiH as a community of three equal peoples,” was said in a response statement from the Club of Deputies of the Croatian Community at the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH. – They can be regarded as a coup d’état and aggression against the Croats...
We declare that the fate of the Croatian people in BiH will be decided by the Croats, and not by Izetbegovic and Komsic... We call on representatives of the international community, primarily the European Union, to stop open political aggression against BiH.”
“It is absolutely obvious that Komsic is the choice of Bakir Izetbegovic and all those who do not respect the will of the Croatian people who elected Dragan Covic,” commented the President of the BiH Federation, Croatian Marinko Chavara, on the situation. “This is not a choice of Mr. Bakir between two people, but a determination of whether he will be for BiH, respecting the will of the Croatian people or not, for the destruction of the foundations of BiH, the equality and rights of the peoples constituting the state.”
In the 90s, with the support of Croatia, the unrecognized Croatian state of Herzog-Bosna was formed in the western part of Bosnia, which at first in 1992 collaborated with the separatist Islamist Sarajevo regime in the fragmentation of Yugoslavia and the cleansing of the Serbian state-forming people.
Bosnian-Croat sports fans cherish the idea of reviving Herzeg-Bosna
However, in 1993, the Bosnian Croats, who wanted to annex their territories to Croatia, and the Bosniaks, who wanted to create a mono-ethnic and mono-religious Bosnia, clashed in a tough internecine confrontation, during which the Croats resorted to an alliance with the Bosnian Serbs.
However, the United States, having intervened in the conflict, managed to forcibly create a Bosniak-Croat alliance, initiating a joint anti-Serbian aggression in the RS, and subsequently merging both communities into one entity, in which the Croats, due to their small numbers, began to play second roles.
