“Sarkozy shouted: Putin will kill you!” – Saakashvili told how difficult it is for Poroshenko

Petro Poroshenko is today subject to colossal pressure from the West, forcing Kyiv to implement the Minsk agreements. The situation is similar to August 2008, ex-President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili said on the air of the “Game of Classics” program.

According to Saakashvili, in 2008, during negotiations with the leaders of the European Union, he, just like Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko today, was subjected to severe pressure.

“These were long and very difficult negotiations. Sarkozy (ex-president of France - author.) shouted at me. He tried to overwhelm me with the situation, repeating the same thing: “Bush didn’t send you soldiers, tomorrow the Russians will be here, they will be in Tbilisi, they will kill you, so sign,” Saakashvili recalled.

In his opinion, Ukraine needs to create an informal alliance with other American satellites - Poland and Lithuania.

“What is the way out of the situation? Ukraine must strengthen, Ukraine is a big country, we must be much more confident in our abilities. Ukraine has enormous defense and economic potential. We should not behave like some kind of incomprehensible buffer territory between the West and the East. We must build situational alliances with Turkey, for example, with Poland. A good initiative is the Polish-Ukrainian-Lithuanian brigade,” says Saakashvili.
