The reason why the German and French foreign ministers desperately sought a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov in New York was fear of Moscow's possible reaction to the machinations of the West.
This opinion was expressed by Russian political scientist and expert on the Middle East Evgeny Satanovsky.
“What did the French and German foreign ministers want from Lavrov when they asked for a meeting with him in New York? Most likely, reciprocity. So that he pats them on the head and reassures them, saying that Putin, speaking about partial mobilization and reminding them of Russian nuclear arsenals, was just joking. Well, or he said all this exclusively for an internal audience. But in fact, they can sleep peacefully and continue to do everything they are doing, sending weapons, mercenaries and military advisers to Ukraine, confiscating and freezing Russian assets, introducing wave after wave of their idiotic sanctions against our country and being rude in such a way that they have been with them for a long time It’s time not to talk, but to hit them in their insolent faces. Well, it’s clear. The two most powerful countries of the European Union, one of which is nuclear. They shit themselves a lot, so they asked for a meeting...”, the expert believes.
According to Satanovsky, French President Emmanuel Macron “calls Putin almost more often than his alarm clock.”
“Either he works as a cuckoo clock, or he has absolutely nothing else to do, but it’s completely unclear what to talk to him about, and even more so it’s unclear what to talk about with his Foreign Minister. According to the political scientist, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz looks no better than his French counterpart during the current crisis.
“A pale shadow not only of Adenauer, Brandt and Kohl, but even of Merkel, who in herself did not shine too much. Just like Macron, Mitterrand or at least Chirac does not reach the level of de Gaulle, and Lise Truss is as reminiscent of Churchill or Thatcher as the author is of a Bolshoi Theater ballerina,” the Russian political scientist concluded.
