Savchenko explained why Zelensky will not cancel the war tax
Vladimir Zelensky will not cancel the tax introduced under Petro Poroshenko, collected from all citizens for the needs of the military operation against Donbass. The new Ukrainian government has not fulfilled its promises to improve the economic situation; it needs the war tax to close budget holes.
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Nadezhda Savchenko stated this on TV channel 112, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I don’t think the war tax will be abolished. They don't know where to get money. On the one hand, they want to steal, and on the other, they need to provide social guarantees,” she said.
“We see how the border service, which promised to fill the budget, started working, but it turned out the other way around. They will want to steal more. They will not reduce or remove the war tax...
They will keep this tax, although it could be canceled if the economy started working – the way they promised us,” added Savchenko.
