Savchenko compared prisons in Russia and Ukraine
The Ukrainian prison is no different from the Russian one, only the guards there are a little more “tolerant”.
Verkhovna Rada deputy Nadezhda Savchenko, who was recently released, stated this on the NASH TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
She complained about round-the-clock surveillance of herself via CCTV cameras, which was conducted by the SBU in the detention center.
“I also went through the judicial system in Ukraine and Russia. I was also horrified that the Ukrainian judicial system is not much different. This is the same pressure, the same controlled judges, it’s terrible... The SBU detention center is most similar to a Russian prison. With your own approach. I'm not talking about people's tolerance. It is clear that the attitude of the workers was a little different, because this is, after all, Russia, this is Ukraine, but the system itself, how people are kept, why they are kept, what risks need to be avoided, it is very similar to the Russian system. This is a solitary cell, this is video surveillance 24 hours a day,” Savchenko said.
