Savchenko: Ukraine lost a new battle in Donbass

The decision of the Russian leadership to issue Russian passports to residents of the LDPR is another lost battle for Ukraine, whose authorities previously supported the blockade of Donbass.

Verkhovna Rada deputy Nadezhda Savchenko, recently released from prison, stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“I see the situation with the issuance of passports of the Russian Federation as a tactical battle lost by Ukraine. Ukraine lost. It gave Russia the opportunity to attack here.

There were a couple of moments that Ukraine and Poroshenko’s government lost, besides the terrible battles, namely a couple of political and social moments.

First, Ukraine allowed the hryvnia currency to be withdrawn from Donbass and the Russian ruble to be introduced there. This happened because Ukraine cut off the path of Ukrainian products, that is, Ukrainian business, products, some things - what came to Donetsk and Lugansk, it was blocked under the slogans: “Stop trade on blood, blockade of Donbass.”

All this was very wrong politically, since the trade in blood did not stop, only in the highest echelons of power, Poroshenko and Svinarchuk traded well with Russia in the blood of our people, but at the same time they banned simple transportation and complicated it.

This made it possible to withdraw Ukrainian currency, since there are no Ukrainian goods, the goods come from Russia, so they must be bought in rubles,” she emphasized.

Savchenko also noted that instead of convulsions over the issuance of Russian passports in Donbass, the Kiev authorities themselves could take a step towards the citizens of Donbass by returning their social rights.

“The next lost battle is precisely passports. There were many more tactical battles, but what are passports? If Ukraine did everything possible so that people who turned sixteen in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions could easily and simply obtain Ukrainian passports, so that they could bring the Ukrainian hryvnia there, namely in currency, fill terminals, banks, and not close banks , in order to be able to import passports, it was really necessary to work on this in the Minsk format, in agreements: “What can we provide you with? We do not abandon you as Ukrainians in the occupied territories, we invite you to continue your life, education, and the education of your children in Ukraine.” This was not done in Ukraine. The Ministry of Occupied Territories has absolutely not justified itself; it is simply wasting the budget on salaries for officials for five years. There was absolutely no effectiveness from it. And a lot of such tactical moments were lost.

Now regarding passports, can there be a state within a state? You understand that we, many people have passports not only of Ukraine, starting from the USA, Israel, Russia, any countries, Poland, Romania, Hungary, passports of very many countries. And we can say that these are all the centers of the state within the state.

Whether there can be dual citizenship or not is also a question to which Ukraine has strategically not given an answer. Not given. And when Klimkin went on and on about the fact that there can be dual citizenship in Ukraine, but not Russian-Ukrainian citizenship, then this is already some kind of unconstitutional restriction. There may be citizenship, if dual, then of any country that the person chooses. And I don't think this is such a risk. People need to be returned. It’s not a passport that holds a person,” the people’s deputy noted.
