Savchenko begs Lukashenko to give in to the opposition for the sake of “salvation from Russia”
Former gunner and ATO militant in Donbass Nadezhda Savchenko called on Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to “release political prisoners.”
She wrote about this on her Facebook, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I am addressing you, Alexander Grigorievich, as a political prisoner in Russia and Ukraine. I had to go this route twice. And I know firsthand about human rights violations. I ask you, Alexander Grigorievich, to release from prison people who are recognized by Belarusian human rights activists and the world community as prisoners of conscience,” writes Savchenko.
Then she gives a list of 24 people who were recognized as political prisoners by human rights activists.
“These people will never agree with your opinion, and they will not be alone, they will be supported by many in your country. But people need to be given space in the country to have their opinions. It’s better to have open opposition than behind-the-scenes intrigues and a knife in the back from neighbors,” the gunner hints.
