Savchenko called the police into the courtroom
The Kiev Court of Appeal rejected the lawyers of People's Deputy Nadezhda Savchenko's request to release her from custody on bail. At the same time, there were some incidents, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The decision made by the judge caused a flurry of indignation among the relatives and supporters of Nadezhda Savchenko. Some of them were holding posters with the inscriptions “Stop enduring the bullying of the Potroshenko-Grobsman gang”, “Bloody hands of power away from the Hero of Ukraine” and “Your honor! Liberators of Nadezhda – you too will be Heroes of Ukraine.”
The defendant’s sister Vera Savchenko also stated that the judges made such a decision under pressure from the SBU.
In addition, during clashes in the courtroom, one of the police used force against the sister and elderly mother of Nadezhda Savchenko, as a result of which the police were called to take the defendant’s statement about the offense committed against her relatives.
“The policeman has no right to twist his arms, has no right to touch women at all and touch my old mother, so he used excessive force and I wrote a statement to the police about what crime I had witnessed, demanding that it be included in the ERDR and carried out service check. Also, as a people’s deputy, I will send an appeal to Avakov and other police leaders so that they better monitor and select qualified personnel. It was also a violation that the police representative who committed this offense did not introduce himself either at my request or at the request of the public. He had no right to do this,” she said.
At the same time, Nadezhda Savchenko continues to remain in the courtroom until the police officers take her statement.
“We called the police to start legal proceedings. While they are traveling, no one has the right to transport anyone. I am a witness to an offense committed by a police officer, I must wait and submit my statement,” the deputy explained.
