Savchenko complains that she is not allowed to participate in the presidential elections
The arrested people's deputy Nadezhda Savchenko claims that investigative authorities are preventing her from registering to participate in the presidential elections in Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Now my vision of participation in the election campaign is that the Security Service of Ukraine is unlawfully not allowing a notary to see me. It all starts with the notary. In order for me to become a candidate, register, and go through the entire procedure, I need a notary. And the SBU is blocking this process in every possible way, they do not allow a notary to see me, although they have no right to do this,” Savchenko said in an interview with the Interfax-Ukraine agency today during a break in the court hearing to consider a complaint about the groundlessness of opening criminal proceedings, answering a question about whether she already has a vision of her participation in the election campaign.
She said that in connection with this obstacle she appealed to international authorities, the relevant authorities of Ukraine and law enforcement agencies. “This issue will be resolved and we will talk about the next steps... So far there is no result,” the parliamentarian added.
According to her, there are “replies that they don’t know how they can do this”
“They, of course, will admit the notary and admit their mistake, but only after the registration is completed. This is their goal... They interfere at this stage so as not to openly interfere at the stage when I am registered. Then it will be completely obvious,” Savchenko concluded.
Nadezhda Savchenko, suspected of actions aimed at violently changing or overthrowing the constitutional order or seizing state power, has been in custody since March 23, 2018. On March 22, the Verkhovna Rada supported the proposals of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko and agreed to prosecute her, detain her and arrest her.
