Moscow – Simferopol, April 15 (Navigator, Mikhail Stamm) – When Ukrainian banks began to close in Crimea, their clients took money to local offices of Sberbank of Russia, believing that it would simply change the license from Ukrainian to Russian. But it turned out that the main bank of their new homeland is afraid of US sanctions and will not work in Crimea. Now people are queuing to get their money back from his Ukrainian subsidiary.

The situation is the same with all other Ukrainian banks: they are closing, even being Ukrainian subsidiaries of Russian banks, writes Kommersant. Ukrsibbank (part of the BNP Paribas group) allowed clients in, but only to repay loans. “Your deposits are already in Nikolaev, you can take them there,” they told the depositors gathered at the doors. Ukrgasbank's branches were not working, and on ATMs there was a notice that an attempt to use it would result in the confiscation of cards issued by this bank. Imexbank has completely removed its ATMs from its branches.

As a result, Crimeans lined up at the local Black Sea Bank for Reconstruction and Development: it currently operates under a Ukrainian license, but has already applied for a Russian one. The client in line number 156 said that everyone was standing to pay bills and deposit money. “Kommersant” managed to find only one Ukrainian bank that is going to continue operating in Crimea under a Russian license - this is the All-Ukrainian Development Bank. What will happen to his Ukrainian business after this is no longer important: according to the NBU, the bank is 100% owned by the son of ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, Alexander Yanukovych.
