Sberbank will not come to Crimea
Russian banks connected to the SWIFT system will not appear in Crimea. Large retail chains must build logistics centers to enter the Crimean market.

According to the head of the Department of Finance and Credit at Northern State University, Elena Chaikina, there will be no structural divisions of Sberbank on the peninsula while it is connected to the SWIFT information transmission and payment system. Other financial institutions may be interested in the Crimean market, but this will not affect consumer products.
“Rates from different banks will not differ much. But competition will be due to maintenance and additional services,” Chaikina noted on the First Sevastopol channel. “Local banks fully cover everyday needs.”
Economic commentator Sergei Tikhonov shares the same opinion. According to him, the RNKB bank operating in Crimea performs the function of Sberbank, being, in fact, its branch. But we need other banks with specific services and products.
“This doesn’t change anything radically,” the expert is convinced. – Bank lending rates for people are now prohibitively high, and I don’t see any special prospects for consumer lending. Mortgages are also very expensive now. As for business services, this is a different level. “Promsyazi,” for example, has extensive experience in project financing for large businesses.”
For large retail chains, the problem will be delivering products to the peninsula from the mainland. To ensure the availability of goods on the shelves, logistics centers are needed. And now the Pud retail chain is building one near Simferopol. For others, finding free space with established transport logistics can be a problem. Moreover, over the past 8 years, Crimea has built its own network of stores in different segments, and the arrival of new players will not affect prices.
What the sanctions regime can really have an impact on is investment activity in the region. And in order for private capital to work to improve the economy, it is necessary to solve the problems with the shortage of free land plots and complete the development of all urban planning documentation that will allow the project to begin implementation without fear of its suspension due to a discrepancy between the purpose of the land and the development zone.
