They want to give the order to Sberbank and MTS to go to Crimea
Large Russian companies, including the banking and communications sectors, do not operate in Crimea because they received permission to do so back in 2014.
Russian political scientist Sergei Markov stated this at a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Initially, the command was given to everyone to work in Crimea, except for a few companies. They were given permission because they asked for such permission because it was very important for them to participate in the IPO on Western exchanges. These are banks and companies like MTS and so on. Now they must admit that such permission was a mistake, since they did not receive any special resources for this IPO, sanctions against these companies continue, and, apparently, in the near future they will become more decisive. I think that in these conditions, the permission given back in 14 not to work there should be revoked,” Markov believes.
He also clarified that, in essence, “you will have to “give an order.”
Formerly a member of the Russian Parliament Leonid Kalashnikov saidthat the Central Bank of Russia should force the country's largest banks, whose controlling stake is owned by the state, to open their branches in Crimea.
