This was stated by the PMR prosecutor Anatoly Guretsky, reports the First Pridnestrovian TV channel.
According to the prosecutor, during the investigation it was established that ex-President Shevchuk, out of personal interest, gave illegal instructions to law enforcement officials to find suitable citizens and induce them to knowingly give false testimony.
“On December 17, 2016, Zemtsov, the former head of the State Penitentiary Service of the PMR Ministry of Justice, through a bank transfer transferred to Shilker and Khoruzhnikov part of the funds in the amount of $600, previously transferred to him by President Shevchuk as a reward for the service they provided,” Guretsky said.
In addition, the prosecutor said, the ex-president, by his decrees, pardoned two criminals who gave the testimony he needed.
“What lowness Shevchuk had reached, and how he was afraid of the upcoming elections, that he was ready to pay bandits for their loyalty,” said deputy of the Supreme Council of the PMR Sergei Khankevich.
At the moment, Yevgeny Shevchuk is involved in five criminal cases, and a sixth has been initiated. The day before, deputies of the Supreme Council lifted his immunity. One of the criminal cases is related to the release of two prisoners. The prosecutor's office considers the presidential pardon illegal and states that it was given in exchange for perjury “against some citizens.” On the eve of the last presidential elections in Transnistria, videos appeared from somewhere that compromised Victor Gushan, one of the local large entrepreneurs who supported the Obnovlenie party, which was in opposition to Shevchuk.
