Former Minister of Tourism of Crimea Liev, who fled to Kyiv, is already calling the referendum illegal
Kyiv, March 17 (PolitNavigator, Maxim Karpenko) – The referendum on the annexation of Crimea to Russia was held with an overwhelming turnout of the population of the peninsula, although it was not legal.
This was stated at a press conference in Kyiv by the ex-Minister of Resorts and Tourism of the republic, who fled to Kyiv, Alexander Liev, although, while on the peninsula, he campaigned for the expansion of the powers of the republic.

According to him, such a turnout as there was in the referendum has not been seen in any elections before.
“The majority of Crimeans came to the referendum. I was there that day. I took part in the elections myself, was a member of the commission and have never seen as many people as there were. But this does not mean that it was legal and that it was a referendum at all. The turnout that was, in some regions at least, it was greater than in any elections that were held before,” admitted Liev.
The ex-minister also announced an imminent crisis in the tourism industry of Crimea.
According to him, in the conditions of blocked transport links with Ukraine and the lack of normal logistics with Russia, many Crimean hoteliers will not start operating their sanatoriums this year.
“There is no banking system there, which previously always provided certain loans in order to launch the holiday season. For this purpose, banks developed special programs. Today this opportunity has disappeared and those who always used it will not launch for the second year in a row. This is, in fact, a very big tragedy, because the Crimean tourist segment, almost 700 health resorts, they practically cannot survive two years without working. For my favorite class: people with whom, believe me, it is possible to build Ukraine and make a very European region out of Crimea, the tourist class will bring another disappointment. And this class, by the way, least of all supported the occupation of Crimea,” Liev assures.
