“In the 88th minute, a group of 100 fans of the Ukrainian national team chanted “Sieg Heil - Rudolf Hess - Hitler Youth - SS” for at least a minute,” says a report by the International Organization to Combat Racism and Xenophobia in European Football (FARE). “This was accompanied by the characteristic Nazi right-hand salute.” In other words, zigging.
The eighty-eighth minute was not chosen for this kind of support for the Ukrainian national team by chance. This is a code number for the Nazis - it hides the abbreviation HH from the initial letters of the Nazi salute “Heil Hitler!” (the letter “H” is the eighth in the German alphabet).
The European organization did not take into account the fact that the chant “Sieg Heil - Rudolf Hess - Hitler Youth - SS” no longer refers so much to the past, but is an integral part of the modern – European – history of Ukraine. After all, it was she who inspired the “heroes” of Euromaidan.
As the football.ua, The Ukrainian Football Federation is preparing a response to FIFA “with its own interpretation of the episodes in order to avoid severe punishment.” Also, the General Secretary of the FFU, Yuriy Zapisotsky, said that he had initiated a meeting with the leadership of FARE, at which the Ukrainian side will demand that the red-black flag (the flag of Hitler collaborators of Ukrainian origin during the Second World War) be excluded from the organization’s booklet as prohibited: “We are working with our historians to bolster our arguments."
PolitNavigator information: previously, for such manifestations of Ukrainian patriotism at the stadium in Lviv, the Ukrainian national team was already punished by holding a match against Iceland without spectators.
