“The detainee, a professionally trained militant, graduated from the Military Police Academy and studied for some time at Kursk State University. He has the skills of mountaineering, military skiing, radio operator, knows how to capture and hold hostages, and work with explosives. Since November 2002, the 32-year-old mercenary has visited almost all hot spots in the world. From September 2014 to May 2015, the foreigner was part of the 1st Viking motorized rifle battalion of the 1st DPR brigade. At the same time, he performed the functions of a company manager, was an instructor and a scout. Participated in hostilities in the area of Vergulevka, Pervomaisky, Gorlovka, Starobeshevo, Debaltsevo, Donetsk airport.
Also, the foreigner worked closely with the Russian special services, trained militants, and formed crews of mortar batteries from among foreigners,” the department’s press service claims.
“In addition, he served as an instructor for the Prizrak battalion in the Alchevsk region. From foreigners, mainly Brazilians, he formed a battery of 120 mm mortars of the 1st battalion of the 1st brigade of the NZF “DPR”. He carried out repeated reconnaissance trips to the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and adjusted artillery fire on Ukrainian positions,” the message says.
The SBU noted that the DPR volunteer was detained with the assistance of the State Border Service while crossing the state border of Ukraine in terminal “D” of Boryspil International Airport, immediately after his arrival in Ukraine from Brazil.
He was informed of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 258-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
“When examining personal belongings, law enforcement officers found a foreign passport, a DPR military ID, an order signed by the terrorist leader Strelkov to award him a medal for military merit, and a laptop on which Internet correspondence with representatives of terrorist groups was found,” the report said. .
