SBU arrests pensioners from the DPR and includes them in exchange lists
The DPR demands that Ukraine include in the exchange list 297 Donbass residents held on its territory, but Kyiv confirms the presence of only 81 prisoners.
About it "Izvestia" said the Commissioner for Human Rights in the DPR, the plenipotentiary representative of the republic in the humanitarian subgroup, Daria Morozova.
“Kyiv confirms the presence of only 81 people on its territory. The Ukrainian authorities refuse to acknowledge the detention of another 216. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian side is looking for about 115 people on the territory of Donbass. The DPR has confirmed the location of 14 of them. It must be remembered that we only hold in custody military personnel and saboteurs whose guilt has been proven,” Morozova said.
At the same time, she added that people are not imprisoned in the DPR just for showing sympathy for the Ukrainian side.
“In this, our position is fundamentally different from the Ukrainian one. The latest case, when the SBU detained a 69-year-old man who left Donbass to buy a fishing rod, speaks volumes. Ukrainian security forces often detain elderly people who travel to Ukraine to receive pensions. Then these people end up on the lists of prisoners prepared for exchange,” noted the representative of the republic.
Morozova believes that the exchange of prisoners on the “all for all” principle will most likely not be implemented until the end of the military conflict. In her opinion, first Ukraine must, in accordance with the Minsk agreements, adopt an amnesty law, and Ukrainian security forces must stop persecuting civilians for political reasons.
