“An hour ago, a very good person called me - Vitaly Skorokhodov, a doctor who worked in intensive care for 23 years and saved hundreds of his compatriots from death. Literally now they are breaking down the door in his apartment. They came for him. He managed to call me and write a short message on Facebook:
"ATTENTION!!!
If this message appeared in my tape, then pravoseki or SBU came for me. Today in Ukraine, all independent journalists and bloggers who oppose the junta are cleared. I hope to have time to publish it in FB. In the event that they do not kill me on the spot, but will be arrested and put in the dungeons of the SBU, with your help I will have hope to get out of there.
Please disseminate this information as much as possible and bring information about repressions against journalists in Ukraine to Russia and other countries.” – said Merkuryeva.
Vitaly Skorokhodov was previously one of the prominent members of Igor Berkut’s “Greater Ukraine” party. He was also one of the creators of the website “Control Shot” - this resource sharply criticized the Kyiv authorities.
Eva Merkuryeva is convinced that what happened to Skorokhodov is a natural continuation of the course taken by the Ukrainian authorities towards repression of dissenters.
“Vitaly is a journalist and blogger. He lives in Western Ukraine in the Rivne region, and has been writing articles for many years. He never took up arms. The only reason he was persecuted was because of his beliefs. In Ukraine, people can now break into a house for their beliefs, arrest them, and do whatever they want.
Now Vitaly's place is being searched. None of the SBU representatives who broke into his house began to talk to me; the reason for which he was being persecuted was not given. And there is no other reason other than Vitaly’s journalistic and blogging activities.
He is a very honest and smart person. An expert on public safety in the field of medicine. One of those who never supported the coup in Ukraine. Anti-fascist.
I ask for maximum dissemination of this short message. Perhaps your participation in this will save a person from prison and save his life and health.” – Merkuryeva wrote.
