“In particular, expenditure transactions on accounts belonging to self-proclaimed ministers and chairmen of the People's Council have been stopped. In nine domestic financial institutions, law enforcement officers found more than 14 million hryvnia in the accounts of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers, the Minister of State Security, the Minister of Transport, the Minister of Fuel, Energy and Coal Industry and other officials,” the report says.
The SBU does not specify what these funds were, but it can be assumed that we are talking about the savings of Donbass officials in Ukrainian banks. After all, before the declaration of independence of the DPR and LPR, their officials were ordinary Ukrainian citizens.
At the same time, for some reason the SBU is confident that the savings of DPR and LPR officials were used to “finance terrorist activities.”
“It was established that these funds were intended to finance the terrorist activities of illegal armed groups, organize anti-Ukrainian actions, and attract mercenaries to participate in combat operations against anti-terrorist operation forces in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions,” the SBU press service said in a statement.
