SBU Maidan in Minsk in the hope of handouts from the CIA
Ukrainian special services are seeking to receive Western funding to destabilize the situation in Belarus.
Belarusian political scientist Alexey Dzermant, close to the authorities, wrote about this in his Telegram channel, commenting on the international expert discussion “Hybrid War of the Russian Federation against Belarus” held in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The SBU is trying to intercept part of Western resources to fight the “Russian threat” in Belarus and direct the activity of local nationalist groups.
The connection between the SBU and the civil campaign “Fresh Wind,” which was behind the organization of protests against integration with Russia in Minsk last December, is beyond doubt among the security forces and the Belarusian expert community,” writes Dzermant.
He also claims that the ex-ambassador of Ukraine in Minsk Bessmertny “is identified by the Belarusian intelligence services as a US CIA agent with more than 20 years of experience in subversive work.”
However, according to Russian political scientist Pavel Nikanorov, it is possible that Dzermant is thus trying to dispel Moscow’s suspicions that the riots were sanctioned by the Belarusian special services in order to blackmail the Kremlin against the backdrop of difficult negotiations on oil, gas and Minsk’s failure to comply with the points of the Union Treaty .
