“In Odessa, the morning began with searches of those whom the SBU considers to be the leaders of the victims. At the moment, we know about searches of Victoria Machulko and Natalia Dementieva. A search is also being carried out at Ibrahim Maurice's place. It is known that security forces are standing at the doors of the apartments of Irina Gvozdik and Anatoly Petrov,” writes Oksana Chelishcheva in her blog.
Odessa residents knew in advance that the searches would take place.
“We talked last night, I ask: Did you receive a summons for tomorrow? Maurice says no, which means that tomorrow they will conduct a search,” notes Vlad Kramer.
At the same time, the SBU detained a group of Odessa residents on suspicion of preparing “terrorist acts.” According to security forces, the detained local residents were planning terrorist attacks to coincide with the anniversary of the May 2 tragedy.
“Special service operatives with the involvement of the Alpha special unit detained a group of local residents in Odessa who are reasonably suspected of preparing terrorist acts, sabotage and provocations. Urgent operational and investigative actions are ongoing,” the statement said.
