The SBU insists: during the Maidan, Kyiv was swarming with FSB agents
Kyiv, December 19 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Raichenko) – During the Maidan, residents of the FSB and the Russian special forces “Vympel” were stationed at the bases of the SBU, which at that time allegedly became a branch of the FSB in Ukraine.
Such statements were made in an interview with the weekly Tyzhden by one of the leaders of the Maidan self-defense, who later took the post of deputy chairman of the SBU, Andrei Levus (now a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the Popular Front party).

“Citizen Yakimenko himself” (Alexander Yakimenko, head of the SBU under Yanukovych. – ed.) belonged to direct agents of the Russian special services, like the people who surrounded him, says Levus. – In fact, during the time of Yanukovych, the leadership of the SBU was 90% composed of direct Russian residents. Moreover, FSB officers worked there on a permanent basis, with their own offices in key departments and separate entrances to the premises. During the Maidan, personnel of the FSB and the Russian special forces “Vympel” were stationed at one of the SBU bases. There were also representatives simply in the central apparatus. That is, the SBU was reformatted into a department of the Russian intelligence service.”
According to the people's deputy, the only functions that were assigned to the Ukrainian structure were “the protection of Yanukovych, his political class and the destruction of the opposition.”
As PolitNavigator has already reported, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation recently opened a criminal case against Andrei Levus for supporting terrorism.
