SBU discovered separatism among football players
The SBU expelled from Ukraine members of the Transcarpathian football club “Karpatalja”, consisting of Hungarians who won the Championship of Unrecognized States, held recently in London.
This is stated in the department’s response to a parliamentary request from parliamentarian Andrei Ilyenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The SBU conducted an inspection and found that citizens of Ukraine also played on the team, who were given a warning, and the Football Federation of Ukraine received a recommendation to deprive them of their football license.
“It has been established that the team called “Karpatalja” (translated from Hungarian as “Transcarpathia”) was formed on the initiative of the Hungarian side from among ethnic Hungarians, some of whom are of Transcarpathian origin (born in the Transcarpathian region). The Security Service of Ukraine issued official warnings to two players-citizens of Ukraine from the said team and initiated consideration of the issue of depriving them of their respective sports licenses before the Football Federation of Ukraine. Organizers and team members from among Hungarian citizens are prohibited from entering the territory of Ukraine,” the message says.
