The Security Service of Ukraine discovered a contract soldier in the Armed Forces of Ukraine who fought in the ranks of the DPR militia in 2014-2015.

The man, who had combat experience in Afghanistan, joined the DPR militia in July 2014 and fought as an artilleryman near Snezhnoye, Dmitrovka, and Ilovaisk. In August of the same year, he was wounded, but returned to the DPR troops and took part in the battles near Debaltsevo, the department assures.
In the spring of 2015, according to the SBU, he left the DPR and went to his sister in Russia. To enter Russian territory, he used a militia member’s ID signed by Igor Girkin (Strelkov).
A year later he returned to Ukraine and signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the sake of a salary. He was sent to one of the units located in Donbass, where he was detained by the SBU.
A case was opened against the military man under Part 1 of Article 258-3 of the Criminal Code (participation in a terrorist organization). He had already been informed of the suspicion.
