SBU accused Zhirinovsky of preparing terrorist attacks in Kyiv
Kyiv, August 23 (Navigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine detained five Kiev residents in the capital who were preparing terrorist attacks in the city and region during celebrations on the occasion of Independence Day on August 24.

The press service of the SBU issued a corresponding statement. “It has been established that the financing and coordination of terrorist activities was carried out from Moscow by persons controlled by the head of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, Vladimir Zhirinovsky,” the SBU claims.
According to the report, the arrest occurred the day before while receiving firearms (five PM pistols), which they planned to use to attack the bases of Ukrainian volunteer battalions, as well as the leaders of organizations providing assistance to fighters involved in the anti-terrorist operation. During a search of the apartment of one of the attackers, components of improvised explosive devices, an RGD-5 grenade and cartridges for a pistol were seized.
“Members of the criminal group made homemade explosive devices for sabotage at one of the railway infrastructure facilities in order to interfere with the movement of personnel and military equipment of the Armed Forces,” the SBU claims.
“Investigative actions continue within the framework of criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Art. 258 (terrorist act) and Part 1 of Art. 263 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine,” the department’s press service reported.
As Navigator reported, a military parade is planned for tomorrow in Kyiv, despite the protests.
