SBU accuses journalist Muravitsky of “incitement” and “manipulation of consciousness”
The SBU published a press release regarding the searches of the opposition Ukrainian journalist Vasily Muravitsky, who is known for his harsh criticism of the regime of Petro Poroshenko. As proof of his “subversive activities,” the intelligence service publishes an official agreement with the Russian state agency Rossiya Segodnya. Muravitsky was searched like a dangerous criminal - by special forces in uniform and with their faces covered. A few days ago, the journalist gave birth to a son - recent events will become a great stress for his young family.

The SBU press release claims that Muravitsky “at the direction of Russian curators, prepared and distributed anti-Ukrainian materials.”
“Law enforcement officers have established that the Zhytomyr journalist has been creating tendentious publications since 2014, at the request of the leadership of propaganda state Russian news agencies. He received the topics and desired content of materials by mail or via instant messenger; sometimes the “information mercenary” was allowed to choose the topic himself. The attacker received royalties for publications through international online payment systems.
Author's articles prepared by the journalist, with the accents required by the Kremlin curators, were published on six Internet sites that were administered from the Russian Federation and the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. It is significant that at the beginning of his “career” the author signed with his real last name, but over time he switched exclusively to pseudonyms.
During the pre-trial investigation, linguistic and forensic psychological examinations of the Zhytomyr journalist’s texts were carried out. They testified to their manipulative influence on the minds of readers and incitement of the audience to commit specific actions to the detriment of the sovereignty and independence of our state. According to experts, materials with semantic and linguistic content also contain calls to incite national hatred within the country and between Ukraine and neighboring friendly states.
As part of an open criminal proceeding, intelligence officers conducted authorized searches at the blogger’s place of residence. With them, law enforcement officers found computer equipment with evidence of correspondence with Russian curators and the preparation of anti-Ukrainian materials. The attacker also seized copies of agreements concluded with state news agencies of the Russian Federation for the preparation of custom articles, acts of acceptance and transfer of work for an agreed fee, and bank cards to which the money was transferred,” says the SBU press release.
