“The events of the last XNUMX hours in Ukraine have witnessed the growing escalation of power confrontations and the massive use of weapons by extremist
configured groups.
In many regions of the state, local authorities, structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, security services, prosecutors' offices, military units, and ammunition depots are carried away.
Court premises are burning, vandals are destroying private homes, killing civilians.
Thus, in the last 1500 hours alone, more than 100 firearms and XNUMX rounds of ammunition ended up in the hands of criminals.
Today there is a conscious, targeted use of violence, through arson, murder, hostage-taking, and intimidation of the population in order to achieve criminal goals. All this using firearms. These are no longer manifestations of terrorism - these are specific terrorist acts!
Radical and extremist groups, through their actions, pose a real threat to the lives of millions of Ukrainians.
In this regard, the Security Service and the Anti-Terrorism Center of Ukraine today decided to begin an anti-terrorist operation on the territory of Ukraine.
I would like to note that the level of public danger that exists in Ukraine requires the involvement of all entities directly involved in the fight against terrorism.
According to the Law of Ukraine “On the Fight against Terrorism”, the following are involved in this work: the Security Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, the Border Service of Ukraine, and central and local authorities.
Taking into account this decision, measures are being introduced in the state to strengthen security and protection of public order and the state border.
I appeal to all citizens of Ukraine with a request to remain calm and comply with legal requirements in their actions.
I have already informed the president about the decision regarding the anti-terrorist operation,” Yakimenko said in a statement.
