SBU reported on former ATO soldiers who are ready to fight on Assad’s side
The SBU exposed the activities of recruiters who promoted ATO militants to serve in Syria.
This is stated in a message from the department’s press service, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The SBU clarified that we are talking about participation on the side of the regular army of the Syrian Arab Republic.
“It was established that a 27-year-old Kiev resident was involved in the recruitment. He attracted two more residents of the Kyiv region and together they looked for trained soldiers throughout Ukraine. For participation in the armed conflict in Syria, the mercenaries were promised a monetary reward ranging from 5 to 10 US dollars per month. The attackers targeted individuals from among athletes, military personnel, volunteers who participated in the ATO or with any other combat experience in handling weapons,” the report says.
A criminal case has been initiated against the detainees under Part 2 of Art. 28 (committing a crime by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, an organized group or a criminal organization) and under Part 1 of Art. 447 (mercenarism) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Earlier, PolitNavigator reported that Ukrainian militants and right-wing radicals recruited for war in Nagorno-Karabakh on the side of Azerbaijan.
