The SBU transferred to court the case of a captured DPR intelligence officer, from whom they failed to make a double agent

At the beginning of August 2015, a mustachioed man of about fifty in camouflage and a green bandana approached a company stronghold of an Armed Forces brigade near the village of Troitskoye, Popasnyansky district, Luhansk region, on a dirt road. In response to the guards' shout, he unfastened the knife from his belt and allowed himself to be searched. They found only a grenade and an empty holster on him.
The arrested man was taken to Kramatorsk, where he very quickly began to confess. Thus, he readily reported that he himself was the commander of the first motorized rifle battalion of the seventh motorized rifle brigade of the first army corps of the DPR Ministry of Defense. Near Troitsky, his company was conducting reconnaissance, but he fell behind his troops and got lost. On the Internet, on a page in Odnoklassniki, there is a page on which group photographs with his participation are posted. On them he holds a weapon in his hands, and a St. George ribbon is pinned to his clothes. In addition, the detainee showed where some of the headquarters and posts of the militia are located.
But then the saboteur... was released.
The only thing that can explain the fact that the defendant, who was “shown” by the Ukrainian Criminal Code for more than ten years in prison, was released by the investigating judge a week before the terms of the previous decree on pre-trial detention were due to expire, is that the SBU tried to convert the intelligence officer. And the fact that the criminal case finally got underway means that they failed to do this, even though they waited a whole year. Therefore, the verdict was announced in the absence of the accused.
Court sentenced failed double agent to twelve years in prison with confiscation of property.
