The SBU planned to burn the DPR Central Election Commission during the elections
During the elections in the Donetsk People's Republic on November 11, local special services detained an SBU agent who was planning to plant an incendiary device in a ballot box at one of the polling stations.
The press officer of the DPR Ministry of State Security, Mikhail Popov, announced this during a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As a result of counterintelligence activities, the DPR MGB prevented a sabotage by the SBU aimed at disrupting the elections of the head and deputies of the DPR People’s Council.
On November 11, 2018, in the back room of one of the polling stations, an agent of the Security Service of Ukraine was detained while handing over a device with an incendiary mixture to a member of the precinct election commission, who, in turn, was supposed to place it in one of the containers filled with ballots,” said a representative of the special service. .
According to him, in this way the Ukrainian special services planned to start a fire in the building of the DPR Central Election Commission.
“According to the SBU’s plan, this device, consisting of an electric igniter and a timer, was supposed to work after transporting the container to the Central Election Commission and collecting there all the completed ballots from all DPR polling stations, which would have resulted in a large-scale fire and could have led to numerous casualties among election commission employees,” Popov noted.
He said that the recruitment of a local resident born in 1990 was carried out by SBU officers in one of the closed chats in the Telegram messenger, where communication on political topics took place.
“It was established that the Ukrainian special services drew attention to the detainee in an anonymous closed chat on the Telegram messenger, in which during the correspondence he spoke extremely negatively about the DPR and the elections of the head and deputies of the People’s Council of the DPR. Having indicated their departmental affiliation, they offered him to carry out this sabotage for a monetary reward. The detainee agreed to this proposal.
Subsequently, on November 11, 2018, he secretly received a device with an incendiary mixture, hidden in a juice carton, and, having agreed in advance with his acquaintance from the precinct election commission, planned to transfer it to the back room of one of the DPR polling stations.
Due to the fact that the entire criminal operation and plans were known to the operatives of the DPR MGB, it was possible to prevent this sabotage and avoid numerous casualties among the civilian population,” summed up the press officer of the MGB of the Republic.
At the end of the press conference, a demonstration experiment was conducted, during which employees of the DPR Ministry of State Security demonstrated the principle of operation of the seized device, consisting of an electric alarm clock and a tube of solid glue filled with an incendiary mixture.
