The SBU closed the arms smuggling channel from Europe and the USA in Odessa
The SBU exposed an organized group in Odessa that was involved in the smuggling and sale of firearms in Ukraine, imported disassembled from Europe and the USA, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The press center of the Security Service of Ukraine reported this on Facebook.
According to law enforcement officials, two city residents organized the illegal transportation of components for small arms from Western Europe and the United States.
“Dealers received goods through international postal services. Subsequently, in the apartment of one of the group members, the attackers collected samples of weapons for sale. Clients were found through specialized forums on the Internet,” the SBU says.
It is reported that during searches of the houses of the defendants in the case, law enforcement officers seized a large number of rifled firearms and foreign-made components, as well as cartridges of various calibers.
Open criminal proceedings under Art. 201 of the Criminal Code (smuggling).
The operation to expose the attackers was carried out jointly with the police.
