Information that has appeared in the media about massive attempts to recruit residents of Crimea by Ukrainian special services through blackmail and threats is evidence that the SBU is working to further alienate the population of the peninsula from Ukraine.

“Such actions of the SBU discourage many from visiting the territory of Ukraine. One should not only come to terms with such an attitude, but at least accept it as a kind of given for some significant, apparently, period of time.
Moreover, it does not matter what position the Crimeans take, how they voted in the referendum - for the other side they are either enemies or a disposable means that they will seek to use to the detriment of Crimea and its inhabitants.
How effective are the actions of the SBU? I think that this is a tick that the security forces will put that “the work has been done.” But in terms of psychological, rejection of the Crimeans, this is very significant,” Nikiforov said.
