SBU: Russia made us Nazis and anti-Semites
Russia is successfully presenting Ukraine in the eyes of the world community as a nationalist country where fascism is being revived.
For this purpose, the Russian Federation allegedly provokes both separatist sentiments and nationalist pogroms, including against Jewish monuments, among clueless Ukrainians.
Deputy head of the SBU Viktor Kononenko tried to convince those present during the “Kyiv Jewish Forum” of this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In the 21st century, we are faced with the problem of creating artificial conflicts and, unfortunately, this is the external intervention of the Russian Federation. This has become a tactic and one of the separate areas of the hybrid war, which has been going on in Ukraine for more than 5 years. The goal of the Russian Federation is clear. Firstly, this is the destabilization of the situation within the country. Secondly, this is discrediting Ukraine in the eyes of the world community. Well, the most important thing is to create grounds, artificial soil for an open military invasion of the territory of our state.
As a representative of the domestic intelligence service, I am primarily interested in countering the activities of our opponents. And I can tell you that since 2014 we have been faced with a whole series of problems of creating artificial conflicts in order to create and emerge new autonomies. In 2014-2015, we fought against the creation of the so-called Bessarabian autonomy - a completely artificial situation when they tried to create a separate republic in the south of Ukraine. 2014-2016 is an artificial intensification of the Hungarian conflict, attempts to create a separate territory in Transcarpathia. And we can name many such manifestations. I name only the main ones.
Regarding the issue related to anti-Semitism, I would highlight two striking facts about the activities of foreign intelligence services to incite precisely this trend. First, this is a group that operated in the Cherkasy region and consisted of representatives of domestic criminals. While carrying out tasks from the Russian side, she committed 9 crimes, including two against Jews. You probably remember the throwing of a grenade on the territory of the historical and cultural center named after Rabbi Nachman in the city of Uman, committed on September 21.09.17, 21.12.16, as well as the desecration of the grave of Tsaddik Nachman on December XNUMX, XNUMX. The group has now been arrested, is giving evidence on each episode, and we clearly see that the conflict is completely artificial, and these are not residents of Uman. This is an artificially created conflict, financed financially from Russia.
The second group acted exclusively to incite ethnic conflicts, was stationed in Chernigov, but committed their crimes on the territory of Volyn, Sumy, and it was in Sumy that on the night of December 29-30, 2017 they committed an anti-Semitic attack on the building of the Jewish community, Jewish house in the city of Sumy. They also gave completely incriminating evidence and are now under investigation. In both cases of group activity there was no hostility towards any nationality, there was a task being completed. The inscription on the Jewish house cost $1600. It's banal, cynical, but it's a fact. It’s just that Russia is trying to present Ukraine in the light of Europe as a country where fascism is being revived, as a nationalist country,” Viktor Kononenko turned on the fake conspiracy theory at full blast.
