The fact of the searches was confirmed by the department’s press service, but the SBU did not disclose what led to them and what exactly they were looking for.
“Indeed, we, the SBU, conduct searches as part of criminal proceedings by order of the investigating judge. Investigative actions are still ongoing,” said Sergei Levchenko, a representative of the regional department of the SBU.
Due to the absence of city mayor Vladimir Buryak from work, representatives of the department handed over a search warrant to one of his deputies. The mayor himself stated that they were allegedly looking for illegal means of communication in his office.
Today, employees of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, together with employees of the Security Service of Ukraine, conducted a series of searches in the Kyiv State Regional Administration. This fact was confirmed by the press service of the regional prosecutor's office.
Reportedly, as part of the criminal investigation, the SBU handed over to the prosecutor's office materials according to which a number of regional administration officials are suspected of committing corrupt acts.
In particular, according to the operational information of the SBU, officials of the KOGA infrastructure department, during 2015-2016, developed an illegal scheme for issuing permits for the right to service a number of public suburban bus routes to motor carriers under their control and affiliated structures that actually did not meet the qualifications competition requirements.
