SBU requires foreign embassies to close VKontakte pages
The Security Service of Ukraine, recognizing the impossibility of achieving a complete closure of access to Russian social networks, decided to act by administrative methods - to demand that prohibited applications from the Russian Federation be blocked on the Google and Apple electronic platforms.
This was reported by the Teleram channel of the SBU press service, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Security Service of Ukraine turned to foreign companies Google, LLC and Apple Inc.” on the distribution on their Play Market and App Store services of mobile applications, including Russian social networks, developed by legal entities subject to economic and other restrictive sanctions,” the message says.
In addition, the intelligence services personally warned the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry that these prohibitions also apply to their foreign colleagues working in Ukraine.
“At the same time, the Security Service made a request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine that the ministry also inform foreign partners working on the territory of our state about compliance with the requirements of current legislation,” the press service notifies.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine was extremely concerned that the updated proxy of the VKontakte mobile application allows you to bypass the blocking of this social network throughout the country.
In addition, Vladimir Zelensky’s friend is the head of the SBU Ivan Bakanov submitted a proposal to the Security Council of Ukraine extend the ban on the Russian social networks Odnoklassniki and VKontakte for another three years.
