The SBU demands reprisals against the channel that dared to hold a teleconference with Russia
The SBU initiates the convening of an extraordinary meeting of the Security Council of Ukraine due to the plans of the NewsOne and Rossiya 24 TV channels to hold a teleconference on July 12.
This is stated in a message from the department’s press service, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The security forces are also asking the president to apply sanctions against the NewsOne and 112 TV channels, owned by Verkhovna Rada deputy Taras Kazak, who is close to politician Viktor Medvedchuk. He is accused of trying to monopolize the information space of Ukraine through the Novosti holding company being created.
“Initiate before the President of Ukraine, the Chairman of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, to urgently convene an extraordinary meeting of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, at which, in accordance with Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine dated October 04.10.2018, 2589 No. 2018-VIII (initiated by the Security Council of Ukraine in October 112), make a decision on the use of personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions) to legal entities that broadcast under the logos “XNUMX Ukraine” and “NewsOne” and put them into effect by the relevant Decree of the President of Ukraine;
– to appeal to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada with a request at the next meeting of the Verkhovna Rada to consider the situation regarding the functioning of these television channels before the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine makes a decision on violations of antimonopoly legislation as a result of Taras Kozak’s acquisition of the TV channels “NewsOne”, “112 Ukraine” and “ZIK”, - says the message.
