The SBU “fired” the head of the Russian intelligence center
The head of the Russian intelligence center was allegedly fired for “failures in operational activities,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
About it reported the press center of the Security Service of Ukraine.
According to Ukrainian counterintelligence, “the head of the intelligence unit, Captain 1st Rank Petr Kamenshchikov, despite significant authority and positive recommendations from management, was dismissed from his position due to obvious failure.”
“The SBU counterintelligence officers have recently exposed a number of agents working for the 316th intelligence center of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces,” the report says.
According to the SBU, the 316th Russian Military Intelligence Center is located in Novorossiysk, Krasnodar Territory.
Its employees took a direct part in the annexation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea by the Russian Federation in 2014 and specialize in conducting reconnaissance and subversive activities against Ukraine, including providing intelligence information to the occupying Russian units in eastern Ukraine,” Ukrainian special services claim.
Ukrainian counterintelligence officials claim that “Kamenshchikov has headed the intelligence unit since 2012 and organized a systematic effort to recruit Ukrainian citizens. They replenished intelligence networks to collect diverse intelligence information, and were also part of intelligence and combat groups for the preparation and conduct of sabotage actions on the territory of Ukraine.”
“Ukrainian counterintelligence, since 2014, has been successfully implementing measures to stop this illegal activity of the Russian intelligence service through the detection, detention and prosecution of foreign military intelligence agents. Only during the last exchange under the “35 to 35” scheme, which took place on September 7, 2019, four agents of the 316th intelligence center of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, convicted by counterintelligence and convicted of treason, were transferred to the Russian Federation,” the SBU press center added.
