The head of the SBU, Valentin Nalyvaichenko, reported to the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko that “as a result of a special operation on April 12-13, the SBU, together with the prosecutor’s office of the Kharkov region, neutralized a large terrorist group of eleven people, which was involved in committing terrorist acts in Kharkov and the region.”
Nalyvaichenko’s adviser Markiyan Lubkivsky announced this on his Facebook page.
“The militants are suspected of shelling the central office of one of the commercial banks in July and the Kharkov regional military registration and enlistment office in August last year, committing an explosion near the office of a volunteer organization in February and blowing up a railway tank in April of this year.
All detainees are citizens of Ukraine born in 1968-1983. The group was well organized with a clear distribution of roles and responsibilities,” said Lubkivsky.
“The coordinator of the terrorists was the head of the Kharkov organization Oplot, Evgeniy Zhilin,” says the SBU representative.
According to him, a large arsenal of weapons and means for committing sabotage were seized from members of the group, in particular, RPG-7 grenade launchers, MRO-A rocket-propelled flamethrowers, Kalashnikov assault rifles, under-barrel grenade launchers, a Dragunov sniper rifle, etc.
