The SBU detained a foreigner and declared him a “GRU agent”

Ukrainian counterintelligence officers exposed the activities and detained an “agent” of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.

According to the security forces, the “GRU agent” was interested in the use of new types of weapons and military equipment in the Joint Forces Operation zone, the location of the Ukrainian Armed Forces units, and so on. He was caught red-handed while transmitting information to a representative of the Russian special services via electronic communication channels.”

“It was established that a citizen of a foreign state, temporarily residing in the territory of one of the regions of Ukraine, on instructions from representatives of the intelligence service of the aggressor country, periodically traveled to the JFO area to collect intelligence information. For this “work” he received a monetary reward,” the report says.

The detainee was informed that a criminal case had been initiated under Part 1 of Art. 258-3 (participation in the activities of a terrorist organization) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. It is noteworthy that the SBU did not even publish the region in which the “spy” with foreign citizenship was detained.

Let us remind you that this is not the first time that Ukrainian security forces have carried out fake seizures. Thus, the day before, a local resident was detained in Dnepropetrovsk, and they are trying to turn him into another “separatist,” accusing him of “active anti-Ukrainian propaganda on social networks.” Moreover, for Russian money.

According to political strategist Sergei Gaidai, who supported the coup in Ukraine, the “special operation” could have been staged by the SBU in order to once again demonstrate its activities “for the good of the homeland.”

“If you look for real “Kremlin agents” somewhere, then they are in the SBU. Because, in general, they were not recruited in the near future, but have been recruited since the times when they studied in general institutions and were one unified KGB system. Secondly, what the SBU has become from the 90s to this day. It has by no means turned into a service that, first of all, cares about the security of the country, searches for spies, arrests them, prevents terrorist attacks, and so on. It performs two main functions, others. The first function is modern racketeering. These people really press and get their money from large commercial structures, coming to them and imitating the fight against economic crime...

And another activity is, of course, political service to the ruling elite. First of all, the president. The president points his finger and says: “We need to sort this out,” and the SBU arranges a search of his place... But from time to time the SBU must demonstrate: “Look, we are here in the service of society.” I don’t know - since I always saw the colossal ability of the SBU to imitate something, to imitate the same death of Babchenko, if you remember, which raised huge questions in society about what it was.

Therefore, I cannot assess whether they caught some pawn and made a big deal out of it, said that we were working, they caught a spy,” Gaidai said on the Politeka Internet channel.

Military expert Oleg Zhdanov also doubts the real operation, who noted that in this way the SBU could try to justify itself for arrest story fugitive judge Nikolai Chaus, where NABU special forces gave chase to the SBU.

“It somehow coincided with this shame that the Security Service of Ukraine experienced and, in fact, its shameful attitude towards the laws of Ukraine with Judge Chaus. It is necessary to show that they are white and fluffy, that they also know how to work, to engage in their profile. Hence such stories - it is quite possible that similar stories will appear,” Zhdanov believes.
