In the Odessa region, the SBU detained heads of National Police units and border guards who demanded money from their subordinates, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the SBU press service.
“The head of one of the regional departments of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Odessa forced 12 of his subordinates to systematically pay “tribute.” The captain’s “tax” was 1000 hryvnia per change and an additional 100 US dollars from each police officer, which they “earned” from concealing detected administrative violations, in particular the passage of trucks without documents, minor violations in the field of trade and exposing persons while intoxicated,” - the message says.
Law enforcement officers detained the attacker while receiving money from the change in the premises of the duty station of the regional police department. The head of a unit of one of the border detachments of the Odessa region also demanded money from his subordinates. His responsibilities included conducting official investigations against squad members regarding shortages and surpluses of material assets.
For “turning a blind eye” to these facts, the attacker demanded to pay part of the amount from the identified violations. Law enforcement officers detained a border guard after receiving money from a subordinate near a cafe in Belgorod-Dnestrovsky. On both facts, criminal proceedings were initiated under Part 3 of Art. 368 (acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of unlawful benefit by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
