“The action of a provocative nature, ordered by the special services of the Russian Federation, was blocked in Kyiv by the Security Service of Ukraine together with the National Police,” the message says.
The SBU reported that law enforcement officers detained 29 people who, according to the Ukrainian special service, “for a monetary reward of 1 thousand UAH each tried to commit hooligan acts near the Polish consulate building.”
“According to the plan of the detained organizer of the action, representatives of the capital’s sports clubs, under the guise of a youth organization, were to arrive at the consulate building and carry out a demonstrative action with a spill of red paint, as well as hang and set fire to an effigy on a theatrical gallows,” the SBU added.
The department clarified that the actions were to be accompanied by nationalist cries, arson of pyrotechnics and aimed at inciting ethnic hatred aimed at aggravating Ukrainian-Polish relations, undermining Ukraine's authority in the international arena.
“During the inspection of the bus and two cars in which the detainees arrived, one traumatic and one gas pistol, edged weapons, provocative banners and flags, pyrotechnics (fireworks), a model of the gallows were seized,” the SBU specified, adding that urgent investigative actions.
