This is stated in a message on the official Facebook page of the SBU.
“A resident of the Kherson region, who in 2014 took an active part in the activities of the so-called “self-defense of Crimea” and was involved in the illegal occupation of the peninsula by the Russian Federation, was detained by employees of the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea,” the report says.
The Ukrainian department especially emphasizes this detail. The detained activist was awarded a medal from Russia.
“From the occupiers, for his “patriotism,” the Kherson resident received a medal “for the return of Crimea” and an award certificate from the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation,” the message says.
“SBU officers detained a traitor at the Chongar checkpoint when he was returning home from the occupied peninsula. Criminal proceedings have been opened under Part 1 of Art. 111 (high treason) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine,” the message says.
