The SBU captured a Crimean deputy while he was traveling to visit his relatives in Ukraine
The Security Service of Ukraine today announced the detention of a deputy of the Yevpatoriya City Council, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the press service of the SBU, the deputy was detained at the Chaplinka checkpoint when he was leaving Crimea for Ukraine, where his relatives live.
“In March 2014, he participated in illegal activities, the so-called “self-defense of Crimea.” During the illegal annexation of the Crimean peninsula, he took an active part in the seizure of administrative buildings of state authorities and local governments of Ukraine,” the department’s press service said in a statement.
According to intelligence, in September 2014 the detainee was elected to the Evpatoria City Council. Investigative actions are being taken as part of a criminal case under the article “encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine”, the SBU noted.
