The SBU opened a criminal case for trying to tell the EU about the harassment of journalists in Ukraine

“Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine, in cooperation with the National Police, stopped an attempt to carry out an anti-Ukrainian action organized and financed by Kremlin customers.
Operatives of the Security Service of Ukraine established that the Russian special services were planning to hold an action in Brussels to discredit Ukraine before the European community. The provocateurs planned to accuse the Ukrainian authorities of allegedly oppressing journalists and the “free press.”
To do this, several citizens of Ukraine went to Brussels as “speakers” of a round table on the topic: “Violation of human rights, restrictions on press freedom and political repression in Ukraine.”
To enhance the “effect” of their speech and additional “truthfulness,” the organizers planned a live broadcast from Kyiv, during which paid “bloggers” and “journalists” had to confirm information about harassment and persecution.
Security service employees documented that the “bloggers” and “journalists” were hired by the organizers of the fake events, according to established tradition, on the “black labor market” for 100 hryvnia each.
To prevent their identification by European partners, the curators ordered the “extras” to wear black glasses due to alleged persecution in Ukraine and fears for their own lives.
The only person widely known to the public at this fake event was People's Deputy of Ukraine of the V, VI, VII convocations Elena Bondarenko, who refused to give explanations to law enforcement officers. However, the audience hired for the “show” gladly did this for her.
The Security Service of Ukraine is aware of a partial change in the tactics of anti-Ukrainian activities of the Russian side and the identification of a separate vector for discrediting Ukraine in the eyes of the world community from the position of European “information platforms” and using, as before, false and contrived data.
As part of the existing criminal proceedings, it is planned to conduct interrogations of the organizers of the fake congress of “bloggers” to document the illegal activities of the Russian special services,” the SBU said in a statement.
