“Operatives of the Security Service of Ukraine established that one of the Russians began an active search for persons capable of organizing protests blocking transport routes for a monetary reward. On instructions from his curators, he also planned to organize a fake “tent city” under the Ministry of Education and Science, allegedly as a sign of protest against the adoption of the new Law “On Education”.
Law enforcement officers documented and blocked the intentions of the attacker, who was expelled from our country for anti-state activities.
While working on other members of the group, security officers found out that another citizen of the Russian Federation, temporarily residing in the Dnepropetrovsk region, on the night of October 21, 2017, by order of the Russian side, burned a car that belonged to the family of one of the people's deputies of Ukraine. This event was promptly covered in the Russian and Belarusian media.
Subsequently, SBU operatives documented attempts by the Russian to acquire weapons and toxic substances. While the attacker was preparing for another crime in the capital, he was detained. Law enforcement officers seized a live grenade and a bladed weapon from a Russian citizen. In the area of the South Railway Station, a stash he made with ignition components ready for use was also discovered. To facilitate the implementation of his criminal intentions, the foreigner used the uniform of a special unit officer of the National Police of Ukraine.
Investigative actions are ongoing,” the SBU reports.
