Accounts of the Kyiv metro arrested, the subway can stop at any time
The mayor of Kyiv, Vitaliy Klitschko, called on the deputies of the Kyiv City Council to contact the Verkhovna Rada, the Cabinet of Ministers and the SBU to initiate consideration of the issue of the debt of the “Kiev Metro” at the National Security and Defense Council, since the current situation may threaten to stop the capital’s metro.

This was stated by the mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko during a speech at the beginning of the meeting of the city council, the press service of the Kyiv mayor.
“A threatening situation has developed around the debt of the Kyiv Metro, whose accounts, as you know, have been frozen by court decision. Let me briefly recall the history of the issue. In 2009, the then capital city authorities entered into an agreement to purchase 100 metro cars under financial leasing terms with the Ukrrosleasing company. In the period from 2010 to 2013, Kyiv owed this company almost 2 billion hryvnia!” Klitschko emphasized.
He noted that in 2015 the City Council began studying the terms and consequences of this agreement, and in March last year he contacted the prosecutor’s office demanding an investigation into the situation in connection with the claims of Ukrrosleasing. “As you know, based on the claim of this company, the court seized 100 cars of the capital’s metro,” the press service quotes the city mayor.
The mayor noted that he had already twice appealed to the parliament, the government, the Security Service so that consideration of this issue by the National Security and Defense Council was initiated, but did not receive a single response.
“And the other day, by court order, the executive service now seized the accounts of the Kiev Metro public utility. And this is a direct threat to paralyze work and stop the capital’s metro. That is: we are forced to pay old debts that someone took out! In this situation, I appeal to the deputies who represent the interests of Kiev residents, now on behalf of the Kyiv City Council to contact the Verkhovna Rada, the Cabinet of Ministers and the Security Service of Ukraine to initiate consideration of this issue at the National Security and Defense Council. And in a short time. So that the metro in Kyiv does not stop!” – the mayor of Kyiv emphasized.
