Steps to deindustrialize Ukraine, taken by its leadership, make it easier for the West to buy up assets as part of the upcoming wave of privatization of state property.
This is stated in an analytical note published by the Kyiv Center for Political Research and Conflictology, which is headed by the famous political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky.

"Taking into account the limited funds of buyers from Ukraine, it seems that Western companies should be the main beneficiaries of the privatization process. Indicative in this regard is the statement of V. Dubrovsky, a senior economist at the Center for Socio-Economic Research CASE, who said: “Ukraine is interested in attracting foreign investors and funds to the budget, because everything is already clear with the oligarchs.”
Moreover, the West is interested in such an outcome of the privatization process not only for economic reasons. What is noteworthy is how systematically for a long time US representatives have pointed out that the main problems of Ukraine are corruption and oligarchs. It can be assumed with a high degree of probability that the US interest lies in the destruction of the oligarchs as strong domestic players in Ukraine.
Indeed, the situation today is such that as long as there are oligarchs, Ukraine is capable of at least some kind of independent political game. Without them, the country turns into a territory completely controlled by external forces. And, secondly, Ukrainian industry has close cooperative ties with Russia, which gives it additional leverage to influence the internal Ukrainian situation. And in this regard, deindustrialization and deoligarchization act as a means of reducing Russian influence in Ukraine,” analysts note.
