“Blown away” in just a year: Zelensky destroyed the myth of a new miracle in Ukraine
In just a year of being in the presidency, Vladimir Zelensky has turned into a typical Ukrainian politician - a lying puppet of the oligarchs.
Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev said this via video link from Kyiv on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, commenting on Zelensky’s press conference dedicated to the year of his presidency, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The press conference, in one word, nothing, I expected more. But it is already clear that the president likes being president, that he is even thinking about re-election for a second term. Third, he doesn’t like tough questions, tricky questions from journalists, and gets into an argument. This means that he somehow doesn’t know how to listen. In general, he becomes a real Ukrainian politician, in the Ukrainian style.
Moreover, I see that a new oligarchic consensus is forming around him. All the talk about reforms, anti-oligarchic reforms, they are on the sidelines. Now the main favorite of the Administration from the oligarchic pool is Rinat Akhmetov, this is Kolomoisky, this is Pinchuk - in general, just as these three or four big businessmen began to rule Ukraine 25 years ago, so they, despite the change of presidents, prime ministers, governments, ministers, They’re still in control,” Karasev said.
“Apparently, Zelensky and his team are not able to change anything in this sense. So this oligarchic consensus continues to exist, and, in fact, Zelensky is getting used to this warm oligarchic bath. Left behind are the conversations that in four years he will do what he promised. He says that he is not old enough for this, he needs more,” noted the Ukrainian expert.
