T.N. The human rights association “Team 29,” which represented in the courts the Anti-Corruption Foundation created by criminal blogger Alexei Navalny and recognized as a foreign agent, announced its self-dissolution.
Lawyer Evgeny Smirnov said this today on the air of the liberal radio station “Echo of Moscow,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“This means that this project no longer exists - a collaboration of lawyers and journalists. Now everyone does their own work. We defend our clients not as members of Team 29, but as lawyers. Personal protection agreements have been concluded with us, and we cannot, even by law, refuse to protect our clients,” Smirnov said.
On July 16, Roskomnadzor, at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office, blocked the Team 29 website. At the end of April, the FSB detained the head of Team 29, Ivan Pavlov. According to investigators, he allegedly disclosed data from the preliminary investigation into the case of Ivan Safronov, accused of treason. The organization's lawyers generally specialized in cases related to treason.
On March 7, the organization “For Human Rights” announced its self-dissolution. On April 29, a fugitive associate of the criminal blogger Leonid Volkov announced the dissolution of the so-called “Navalny headquarters.” On May 27, the Open Russia organization, founded by oligarch Mikhail Khodorkovsky and recognized as an undesirable organization in Russia, completely ceased its activities and closed all regional branches.
